No Such Thing as a Free Mooring ?
No Such Thing as a Free Mooring ?
Boatshed utilises its Boat for Sale Parking initiative with a number of marinas and yards. "Boat for sale parking" means owners of boats can take advantage of flexible mooring or storage opportunities while selling with Boatshed. For information on Boat for Sale Parking, click here.
Boatshed developed Boatshed Parking because there are a number of brokerage competitors who offer “free moorings.”
Very often this entails space in a yard, on a sales pontoon or on a marina berth sponsored by the broker concerned.
However, often these free moorings do require either a sole agency contract or the terms of who pays are not clear. This means you are unable to sell the boat yourself or place it with other brokers, plus should you sell the boat yourself or another agent sells it, the cost of the "free" mooring needs to be repaid.
There have been numerous incidences recently where Boatshed has sold a boat for the customer and external (non boatshed) broker has revoked the offering of the "free" mooring and the customer has been faced with a large storage bill post sale.
Whilst the offer of a "free" mooring while your boat is for sale is attractive, always check the small print to make sure that "free" actually means "free" rather than "sponsored" under the brokerage terms.
Boatshed offer and open and non exclusive approach to selling boats based on our successful "Full Brokerage Process", We do not offer "free" incentives such as moorings.
We can help you, if you need us to, find a suitable and flexible place to store your boat based on local knowledge at a reasonable cost.
Plus if we do not sell your boat faster than anyone else, you owe us nothing!
