A day in the life of a Boatshed broker - Tim Kingston of Boatshed Brighton
Here at Boatshed we have some fabulous brokers and today we’d like to put the spotlight on Tim Kingston who is the Boatshed broker for Brighton.
Tim, how long have you had your Boatshed brokerage?
I’ve been a Boatshed broker for just over a year.
And what was your first experience of boating?
As a boy, every year we used to go to the same place at the seaside in North Wales. Each year I used to see this little boat, locked in a garage with all its equipment and was desperate to have a go in it. I read about sailing when not on holiday and learned all about it before I'd even been on a boat. One day, the owner of the boat found out I was interested and said I could use it! From that day on, I was hooked and spent every second I could, sailing around the bay on my own, returning each year.
What did you do before you were a broker?
An engineer in the Royal Navy and, more recently, a business critical facilities manager.
And what is it you like about being a broker?
Being around, amongst and in boats! I've never experienced so many different types, classes, old, new, good and bad. Meeting a wide variety of owners and hearing their tales is just as intriguing.
And what would you say was a typical day in your Boatshed brokerage?
I work as a business critical facilities manager in the day and leave the office, return home and start Boatshed!
I spend most of my weekends doing Boatshed business.
Thank you for letting us know a little about a day in your life Tim.
